Housekeeping: Welcome!

7 Tammuz, 5784 / July 13, 2024

Dear Neighbors,

The White Rose RI newsletter is making some exciting, though bittersweet, changes, and we want to let you know what’s on the way.

In short:

  • The White Rose RI newsletter is going to be a separate project from Never Again Action moving forward.

  • The newsletter is moving to a new platform, beehiiv.

If you’re receiving this, you have already subscribed to our new platform! Thank you and welcome!

Here’s a recap from the Housekeeping post that went out earlier today on our Substack, which will be twilighting over the following month:

“As many of you know, this newsletter was started by and has been based within the Rhode Island chapter of Never Again Action. After our chapter dwindled to just three of us last year, we decided to focus our energies on this newsletter as a way to work within our capacity and continue to support local organizing around abolition and immigrant rights.

However, as the newsletter has taken shape, it is moving us in a direction aligned with but separate from the focus of Never Again Action. We have broadened our scope, lifting up opportunities for advocacy on a wide range of progressive issues, and sharing about a variety of spiritual teachings and traditions that motivate and sustain our advocacy.

Because of this shift, we have decided to formally make the White Rose RI newsletter a separate project from Never Again Action. As a result, Never Again Action’s RI chapter will go inactive at the end of the month. If you’d like to keep up with Never Again Action National’s advocacy work and skills trainings, you can become a NAA member, and we remain hopeful that there might be a time when folks gather to form the RI chapter anew.

Meanwhile, the three of us are eager to embrace the expansive direction of the White Rose RI newsletter. We will continue to put out biweekly newsletters to share local opportunities to take action, along with ideas, encouragement, podcast recs, and more.

We’re also using this moment of change to shift what platform we use for the newsletter. Due to the problem Substack has had with platforming far-right groups, White Rose RI will be moving over to beehiiv.

We know that some of you who joined us from NAA may not want to follow our newsletter in the broader direction we are headed. We want to respect that, so:

We will not be automatically subscribing anyone for our new newsletter platform. If you want to keep getting our White Rose RI newsletter, or to sign up for the first time, please subscribe here!

Feel free to reach out to us at our new email address, [email protected], if you have any questions.

We hope you are interested in where we’re going and want to come along with us, but if not, it’s been great being in community with you. Thank you for teaching us, collaborating, taking action, wondering together, and helping to make the world more just and more caring.

Katherine, Lee, and James”
